Juan Alexander Mejia Dubon
A Canyon Country man accused of shooting his father dead Thursday night in Canyon Country is due in Los Angeles Superior Court in San Fernando today.
The suspect, Juan Alexander Mejia Dubon, (left) 30, of Canyon Country, was arrested Saturday afternoon.
Officials say Dubon arrived home Thursday night intoxicated and began to argue with his parents before shooting his father, 53-year-old Juan Mejia, in the head.
The murder happened in the 1900 block of Newhouse Street, Canyon Country just before midnight Thursday.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he died early Friday morning.
The public’s help was part of the reason why deputies were able to find and detain their suspect for questioning, according to a sergeant with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Dubon was found around 4 p.m., getting into a vehicle on Santa Clara Road, Nagler said.
He is due in court Monday for his arraignment on murder charges. He was being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station in lieu of $1 million bail.
The weapon used in the crime has not yet been recovered by Sheriff’s Station deputies, according to previous reports
