The City of Santa Clarita encourages residents to apply for a vacant position on the Planning Commission. Previously filled by Bill Kennedy, the term of office on the commission expires on July 31, 2012.
Kennedy, former chairman of the SCV Chamber of Commerce and Valley Industry Association and co-chair of the SCV Economic Development Corp., moved to Colorado at the end of 2011.
The five-member Planning Commission is appointed by the City Council and responsible for reviewing development projects in Santa Clarita. The commission also formulates and prepares general policy recommendations for the City Council.
To qualify, applicants must be 18 years or older and maintain principal residence in the City of Santa Clarita during their term of office. Evening availability is required.
All applications must include three letters of recommendation. The deadline to submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office is at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The City Clerk’s Office is located at 23920 Valencia Blvd., Suite 304.
