Can you believe it’s already that time of year again?

The magic of the holidays is alive and well at the 10th annual Festival Of Trees. The SCV Boys and Girls Club fundraiser features 39 elaborately decorated holiday trees and vignettes, 40 table-top trees and more than 100 gingerbread houses that fill the Westfield Valencia Town Center space with a delicious aroma.

Most of the items on display are up for bid in a silent auction that will close Nov. 18. Gorgeous holiday wreaths are available for cash and carry purchase and range from $80 to $200. A few of the large tree displays will go to the highest bidder during a live auction during the Magic of the Lights Gala on Saturday, Nov. 17. Tickets are available [here].

Festival of Trees is open to the public through Nove. 21 at the mall between the Chronic Cantina restaurant and Sears. General admission is $5 for adults, and discounts are given for seniors and kids. Children under 2 are free.

Proceeds from all sales will go to support the Boys and Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley.

This fundraiser, along with the annual Boys and Girls Club Benefit Auction held each June, are responsible for about half of the club’s annual operating budget, said Ronda Chobanian, the SCV club’s development director.

“Our budget as a whole really exists mostly on contributions and fundraising,” Chobanian said. “We are not a government agency. We don’t have that type of funding. We work with private foundations for grants and events and that’s how we survive. So this is critical to our success.”

The festival also offers a Kids Corner, where youngsters can enjoy making holiday crafts including decorating sugar cookies, writing letters to Santa, storytime and more. Admission to the Kids Corner requires the purchase of a $5 activity card.

Each of the trees on display has a unique theme and is sure to please everyone from the Hart High School graduate to USC alumni. From wine lovers to Barbie lovers, too, traditional or quirky holiday décor is sure to bring out the kid in everyone.

“I would say that the Gold Star family tree is definitely one of my favorites,” said Chobanian, who conceptualized and designed most of the displays along with designer Ruben Haynes and an army of volunteers. “I was so honored to work with those families, I can’t say strongly enough how i feel about that tree.”
