The Valencia Flyers finished out the 2015-16 season with wins over Long Beach, Ontario and San Diego to secure the top spot in the Western States Hockey League overall standings, finishing 45-7-0, the best record in franchise history.
The impressive regular season locked up the Flyers first Western Division title in franchise history as well as the opportunity to control home ice throughout the WSHL Thorne Cup playoffs which start Mar. 10, 2016.
The Flyers have improved their record each of the last three season under current Head Coach Josh Berge, last year setting a franchise record in wins with 35, breaking that record again and setting the franchise record for wins (45) and points (90) in a single season in 2015-16.
Third year forward Jakob Kranabetter lead the team in points (76) and assists (52), setting the franchise single season and all-time assists record in the process.
Goaltender Linus Ryttar lead the league in wins with 30, finishing the season in the top 5 in goals against average and save percentage, setting the franchise single season record in both categories.
Valencia will have an opening round bye in the WSHL divisional playoffs and will host a Western Division quarter final series against the lowest remaining seed from their division starting Thursday Mar. 17 at Ice Station Valencia.
