Jeffrey Michael Gomes, 42, has been charged with five felonies in connection with the abduction of his two-month-old son on Friday.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives presented the case against Gomes, 42, to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office Child Abduction Section on Tuesday.
Based on the facts of the case, the DA’s Office filed five felony charges against Gomes, which included kidnapping, unlawful child detention with right to custody and three additional felonies.

The complaints allege that Gomes unlawfully took the baby from the Gorman community on Friday, November 3. The SCV Sheriff’s Station initiated an Amber Alert from Southern California to the San Francisco Bay area, where Gomes last lived.
Detectives worked on the case tirelessly until investigative resources, coupled with a citizen’s reported sighting, led California Highway Patrol Officers and Kern County deputies to a Bakersfield community along Interstate 5.
Gomes was taken into custody without incident. The two-month-old child was also found safe and in good condition.
The SCV Sheriff’s Station would like to thank community members who reported sightings of the suspect, and the various law enforcement agencies that dedicated numerous resources to the investigation.
