Santa Clarita Valley High School Sports Report for April 1, 2016:
Boys High School Volleyball
For the third straight match the West Ranch Wildcats swept their opponents, this time at the hands of the Canyon Cowboys coming away with a three sets to none victory. The Wildcats took each match in convincing fashion, winning 25-13, 25-14, and 25-14 to improve to 3-0 and take over the top spot in the Foothill league.
Saugus also came away with a sweep, taking a three sets to none victory over the Hart Indians. The Indians Ethan Wellins had seven kills and three solo blocks for the indians in the loss.
Valencia got 11 kills from Andrew Johnson in route to a three sets to one victory over Golden Valley. Michael Trunzo had 36 assists for the Vikings who are now tied for second with Canyon in the Foothill league.
Boys High School Tennis
A second straight doubles sweep highlighted the Valencia Vikings 17-1 win over Canyon on Thursday. Evan Balmain and Ryan Recalde didn’t lose a single set in the effort as the Vikings improved to 3-1 in league.
West Ranch blew Saugus out with a 17-1 victory, sweeping the Centurions in singles.
Hart held on to a 13-5 victory over golden valley, as Sam Delgado and Zack Killian swept their singles matches.
