Hart High’s award-winning marching band and colorguard, Hart Regiment, will host its 28th Annual Hart Rampage Marching Band Field Show Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 5, at College of the Canyons.
More than 30 high school bands from across the state — including all six William S. Hart District high schools — are expected to participate in the day-long event, which will be held at Cougar Stadium, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Valencia.
Rampage is one of the oldest and most prestigious marching band competitions in California. In addition to local high schools — Valencia, West Ranch, Golden Valley, Saugus, Canyon, and Hart — Rampage will feature schools from throughout the southern half of California.
“Every year, Rampage gets bigger, more competitive and entertaining, as the performances get more spectacular,” says Anthony Bailey, band director at Hart, who has been involved with 12 Rampage competitions. “We’re thrilled that it has grown to become one of the most important marching band competitions in the state. These high school students spend countless hours on their craft and come together as a team to perform for their audience. The support of the community is greatly appreciated.”
“If you’re looking for something to do for the day, marching band competitions are fun for the entire family,” according to Paul Cardey, Chairman of Rampage 2011, adding that the tournament is entirely run by Hart Music Boosters parent volunteers and the Hart High students, who volunteer all day, welcoming their band peers and then perform at night. “It’s a great way to spend a Saturday. You can come to all or part of it and enjoy great music and performances.”
Rampage tickets will be available on the day of the competition. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. There will be food vendors, a large raffle and merchandise for the public. For more information, contact Paul Cardey at (818) 266-4120 or visit www.hartregiment.com.
Rampage will include its signature feature – the largest mass drum-line in Southern California featuring drummers from all the day’s performing bands followed by the awards ceremony.
In 2010, Hart Regiment was named state champion in its division by the Southern California School Band & Orchestra Assn. (SCSBOA) for the ninth consecutive year — an accomplishment that remains unmatched by any other group. This year Hart will be attempting to win for the 10th year, representing a decade of hard work, great direction by Anthony Bailey and exceptional talent. We hope you watch our season and encourage Hart as we strive for this title.
