[KHTS] – A search for Bryce Laspisa, a missing teen from Orange County, is planned for this weekend, according to a statement from KlaasKids Foundation.

Family members of the 19-year-old from Laguna Niguel are still troubled by not only the fact that they can’t find their loved one, but the circumstances around his disappearance.

“It’s like he literally vanished,” said Bryce’s father, Michael Laspisa.

Laspisa is a college student who was driving home from school Aug. 30 when his 2003 Toyota Highlander was found overturned on a boat launch near Castaic Lake.

Since that date, there have been alleged sightings, but no trace of Bryce Laspisa has been found.

A weekend of volunteer searches will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. in Valencia.

brycelaspisa093013Volunteers should check in at the Holiday Inn Express located at 27513 Wayne Mills Place.

The search effort will continue through Sunday at 5 p.m.

“He had been in Chico at 11:30 p.m. (Aug. 28), and we assumed he  went back to his apartment at 1:00 am,” said Karen David Laspisa, Bryce’s mother. “He said he went up there to breakup with his girlfriend.”

“I told him, ‘I want to fly up’ and he said ‘Mom, don’t make any flight reservations until I talk to you. I have a lot to talk about,’ and we didn’t talk,” she said.

He began driving down from Chico to his parents home in Laguna Niguel but ran out of gas near Buttonwillow on Thursday.

He called roadside assistance and they brought him gas, she said.

Upon Karen Laspisa’s request, “The roadside assistance serviceman went back to the rest area hours later to see if Bryce was still there.  He was still at the same place where roadside assistance left him.”

Bryce had told the serviceman that he was fine and had just been sleeping, she said.

“He said to California Highway Patrol later that day that he was heading to Laguna Niguel to hang out with a friend and blow off steam,“ Karen said.

Bryce’s parents called at 12:30 a.m. Friday with no answer. At 1:50 a.m., Bryce’s parents reached him and he had said he was driving on the I-5 but could not see any signs, she said.

Despite well-coordinated searches by law enforcement, Bryce Laspisa is still missing.

Bryce’s family has called on the KlaasKids Foundation to organize a community volunteer search.

So that organizers will have an approximate head count volunteers are asked to sign in online at Find Bryce Laspisa Volunteer Spot prior to Saturday’s search. Volunteers are also asked to print, fill out and bring with them the 2 forms (registration and release) that can be found on the forms page of findbrycelaspisa.com.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and bring photo identification. “Dress appropriately for the weather, wear long pants and sturdy, covered toe shoes. We need people who can do foot searches as well as individuals who are willing to work in the search center,” explained Dennis.  “We are also looking for donations of bottled water and office supplies.”

For more information about the search or information on how you can donate supplies, volunteers can call Tricia Griffiths at (801) 560-1933, or emailinfo@klaaskids.org.

The KlaasKids Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) (3) public benefit corporation determined to stop crimes against children and assists families of missing children. Please visit www.klaaskids.org for more information.

    Oh Lord, we humbly come to you for Bryce Laspisa. Please, watch over and protect Bryce. Let him be found in good health and spirit. Comfort his very anxious family, near and far, in this time of great need. Be a guiding hand to those seeking him, and hear all of our prayers. We trust that you will be placing your healing and sacred hands upon this situation and grant Bryce safety and protection from harm. In Jesus name. Amen.

    Our Father,
    Who art in heaven,
    hallowed be Thy name;
    Thy kingdom come;
    Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us this day our daily bread;
    and forgive us our trespasses
    as we forgive those who trespass against us;
    and lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil. Amen.

    Oh Señor, venimos a ti humildemente por Bryce Laspisa. Por favor, protege y cuida a Bryce. Permite que lo encuentren en buena salud y buen espíritu. Alivia a su ansiosa familia, cercana y lejana, en este momento de gran necesidad. Sé la mano que dirige a aquellos que buscan a Bryce y escucha nuestras súplicas. Confiamos que pondrás tus manos sanadoras y sagradas sobre esta situación y le proveerás a Bryce seguridad y protección de todo mal. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.

    Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo,
    santificado sea Tu Nombre,
    venga a nosotros tu reino,
    hágase tu voluntad en la tierra como en el cielo.

    Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada día,
    perdona nuestras ofensas
    como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden,
    no nos dejes caer en la tentación
    y líbranos del mal. Amén

    Rather than wasting time praying, why don’t you actually get out and DO something? Volunteer. Donate. BE ACTIVE IN THE SEARCH. Praying isn’t going to do anything.
