1903 - President Teddy Roosevelt visits Gov. Henry Gage at Acton Hotel [story]

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station would like to raise awareness of the perils of street racing and encourage Santa Clarita Valley residents to report such activity before a tragedy occurs.

Each year as spring and summer time approaches, deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station see an increase of sideshow or street racing activities.  In fact, these type of activities can be found in communities across Southern California.  Street racing events continually draw in participants who create a public safety hazard through their unsafe driving and obstruction of public roadways.  As a result of their aggressive behavior, other crimes such as assault with a deadly weapon, DUI, and general disturbances of the peace frequently occur.

lasdcarIllegal sideshows and street racing events are reckless, unsafe and unlawful.  They pose an extreme danger to those participating in the activity, other motorists and bystanders.  People involved in these activities within the Santa Clarita Valley should expect deputies to take decisive action against them, including citations with enhanced fines, vehicle impounds and jail time for felony and misdemeanor charges.

Not only is street racing illegal to participate in, but spectating is also illegal.  Spectators can receive a citation for watching the street race.  Deputies assigned to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station will continue to monitor illegal street racing and take appropriate action when they come into our patrol area.  Street racing cannot be tolerated in any form.

If any member of the public is aware of street racing activity in progress, call 911 and provide license plate numbers, descriptions of vehicles and subjects involved.  Should you see any suspicious activity, please call Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 255-1121.

Remember, “If you see something, say something.”

This morning on Soledad Canyon rd just like other times before that people are careless about driving. i witnessed a car turn on to the street from the railroad tracks and almost losing control by the driver. The driver was driving carelessly behind to other cars. This area is known for speeders illegally demonstrating their engines. Kids and adults waiting to cross the street and for the bus are at risk. I tried to do something and the sheriff wants me to film it for them with my phone. Leave it to the movies people not worth losing a life for.

  2. Steven Craig says:

On my street right in front of a hiding black and white two cars lined up to race. They even let someone out to be a flag man. They started the race and then spotted the scv sheriff. They quickly slowed and drove off. Only after my friend and i yelling why wasn’t he doing anything did he very very very slowly drive off. He never went after them. Guess it was too much paperwork if he had. Ive complained to the point of being out of breath about the speed of cars down my street and still not a darn thing done about it. I guess a few more have to die on my street first.

  3. its a shame LACR is a giant gravel pit now.

  4. Ruether between Soledad and centre point is like a raceway

  5. They really should focusing on WestRanch high school. While dropping my son off and picking him up each day I am amazed at what I see. It’s only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured. My daughter went to WestRanch and valencia several years ago and I never experienced anything like what I see now on a daily basis.

  6. Michael Pare says:

Sadly those idiots kill more than just themselves.

  7. they need to go to the high school and see how these kids race its crazy

  8. they need to go to the high school and see how these kids race its crazy

  9. Here is your street racer!

  10. It’s really not an issue of not having a place to go to. Willow Springs and Grange are an hour or less away and they’re open to everyone. The kids streetracing are the ones too dumb to go to the track, that honestly don’t know what they’re doing. And then it hurts people like myself who have a passion for modifying cars and goes to the track frequently because we get profiled as street racers.
