[Trinity Classical Academy] – Trinity Classical Academy will be presenting an American Civil War Reenactment on Friday, Feb. 26.

The American Civil War Living History Museum will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Trinity’s Celebration Center.

Trinity’s sixth grade class, their families, and attendees will witness authentic American Civil War soldiers and their families (reenactors) portray life on the battlefield with living quarters, artillery, along with a demonstration and firing of Black Powder Guns from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the upper grass field.

For the past 3 months, Trinity’s sixth grade class has been deep in preparation for the school’s annual American Civil War Living History Museum. In in the beginning of December, each student was given a specific biographical figure with the assignment to create a two to four minute presentation that includes transforming into the character with props, and being able to explain their historical timeline with the assistance of photos and maps they have created. They must also be able to answer questions based on the experiences of their character.

The American Civil War Living Museum and witnessing the reenactment of what life was like in the 1860s will give students an almost authentic historical perspective and an experience they could never receive in a classroom. Immersing themselves into these characters and then witnessing the reenactment on the battlefield provides an appreciation of the trials and sacrifices American soldiers and their families experienced.
