Senior Sophina DeJesus was named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Specialist of the Week after scoring a near-perfect 9.975 on the balance beam against Oregon State on Saturday.

Coming off a week in which she became a viral internet sensation for her Feb. 6 floor exercise routine, DeJesus gave another standout performance, this time with a standout performance on the beam. She came close to scoring a perfect 10 on the apparatus, receiving a 10 from one judge and a 9.95 from the other to shatter her career-high with a 9.975. It was her first career win on the beam, and it helped the Bruins set a new team season-high on the event with a 49.5. She followed up with a 9.9 on floor exercise to finish third. Her scores helped the Bruins defeat Oregon State with a season-best score of 197.475.

This is the first Pac-12 weekly honor of DeJesus’ career and the 96th all-time for UCLA.

California’s Toni-Ann Williams earned Gymnast of the Week honors, and Utah’s Sabrina Schwab won Freshman/Newcomer of the Week.

COC Women’s Soccer Takes Unbeaten Streak into Playoffs

College of the Canyons Women's Soccer pushed its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 2-1 road victory over Antelope Valley College on Nov. 12, and followed that with a 3-0 win over LA Valley College on Nov. 15. That has the Lady Cougars riding an eight-game unbeaten streak as the team prepares for Round 1 of the 3C2A SoCal Regional playoffs.

Rodriguez’ Kick Lifts No. 12 Canyons past No. 14 Bakersfield 27-24

Lady Mustangs Head to Championship in Women’s Volleyball

In a tense three sets that found The Master's University's women's volleyball team having to come from behind, the No. 1-seeded Lady Mustangs defeated the No. 4-seed Embry-Riddle Eagles 25-22, 26-24, 25-17 to win the semifinals of the GSAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament Tuesday night, Nov. 12 in The MacArthur Center.
