Hart School District officials are investigating an allegation that a Valencia High School teacher electronically sent “inappropriate materials” to a former student who is now an adult. The teacher has been place on leave.
Without identifying the teacher, Valencia Principal Paul Priesz sent the following voice and e-mail message to parents Friday afternoon:
Hello this is Paul Priesz.
Valencia High School and the District (have) received numerous inquiries in the past two days regarding an allegation of misconduct with respect to a Valencia High School teacher.
Although the District does not typically comment on the details of personnel-related allegations while an investigation is pending, because parents have expressed concern about the possible nature of the alleged misconduct and whether it involves misconduct with minors or Valencia students we are issuing this advisory to parents.
The alleged misconduct involves a Valencia High School teacher electronically transmitting inappropriate materials to an adult who is a former Valencia High School student. There is no allegation at this time regarding any conduct between the teacher and any minor or any existing Valencia High School students, nor is there any allegation at this time regarding any physical interaction between the teacher and anyone.
Please be assured that the school and District appreciates the important role that teachers serve in our community, and for this reason we are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action. The teacher is on leave.
