The deceased victim of a solo motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon on Soledad Canyon Road near the 14 Freeway has been identified as Joel Renteria, 30, of Lancaster.
His passenger, Sera Anderson, 21, also of Lancaster, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.
Officer Ed Jacobs of the California Highway Patrol said Renteria and Anderson were riding northbound on Soledad on the same bike when, for an unknown reason, Renteria lost control, veered to the left across double-yellow lines and crashed into the opposite guard rail. Both were ejected.
No other vehicle was involved, Jacobs said. The collision occurred at 1:50 p.m. on Soledad Canyon Road at Lang, about a quarter-mile east of the 14 Freeway exit at Shadow Pines.
Jacobs said it is unknown how fast the motorcycle was traveling when Renteria lost control.
