[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are investigating a middle-of-the-night Saugus jewelry store burglary that netted several hundred thousand dollars in jewels, officials said Monday.
In the early morning hours Sunday, the thieves apparently used the roof of an Indian restaurant under construction next door to Jewelry World SCV in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road in Santa Clarita to gain access, then cut through the walls and a vault, according to Sheriff’s Station records.
“They broke into a neighboring business through the roof,” said Sgt. Mike Konecny of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “They went through the wall into Jewelry World and stole a large amount of jewelry.”
Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the report around 4:45 am., according to records.
The store was empty during the burglary.
The thieves reportedly took about $300,000 worth of merchandise, according to Sheriff’s Station records.
A store employee from Jewelry World declined to comment Monday when reached by phone.
The incident is being investigated by the Detective Bureau of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, who did not provide further detail because it was an ongoing investigation.
No arrested have been made in the incident, yet, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121.

Oh my goodness….just went in and met them last week when I dropped off my husbands ring for repair. They were both extremely nice. This makes me sick for them.

Wow !! What happened to Santa Clarita being one of the safest cities?
Glad were outta here in few months Javier Garay the cheese eaters are creeping in this city ….slowly but surely.
@rania unfortunately, i wouldn’t doubt that this SOBs are all coming from Lancaster and/or Palmdale area. The last burglary at the Bank of America out here in Santa Clarita; they caught the suspect in Lancaster..so go figure. Their city is filled with 90% of criminals. They know we live in a safe city and so that we are an easy target.
I wonder how a burglar alarm could have failed… in such an expensively-stocked business as a jewelry store, one would presume the owners would have had a super secure system, or even more than one that was hidden. We’ve been so very fortunate living in this community to not have had to deal with much serious crime. These evil thugs have found a fertile spot to hone their crimes in our family neighborhood. WE HAVE TO BE TOUGHER THAN THEY ARE!! Invest in even more security devices, security patrols, insist on more police presence, and, when convicted, TOUGHER sentences that require the punks pay for their own room and board in a jail hellhole.
You forgot something important in your idealistic list: learn self defense, train with a self defense handgun and be proficient at protecting your life. Police arrive after the crime occurs. Criminals always seek the path of least resistance. Don’t be that least resistive path for them.
Robin Cantor- Silver my mom is friends with Ginger and she said they sold the business awhile back.
The more current owners are such nice and kind people. How horrible for them.
Oops!! Hope they has insurance!!!!
Lorena Garay I’m sorry to inform you that Lancaster is not 90% criminals. It is filled with just as many criminals as SCV. Your “safe city” isn’t as safe as you think. If it was this wouldn’t be happening in the first place.
@Hailee Beebe : im sorry if i touched an itch and you took it personally because you might reside in the ghetto city of Lancaster. I said ((((90%)))) which leaves 10% of YOU GOOD PEOPLE still living out there!!! Palmdale and Lancaster are a high rate crime cities PERIOD statistics says it. Its filled with thugs and section 8 / welfare people. Theres a reason why they are now saying Compton is safer than Palmdale now in days. Imagine that?! Santa Clarita valley is a “safe city” specially the Valencia part of it. Which your people from the AV come down here to DESTROY! Because like I said we are such a tranquil city that THESE CRIMINALS know that we are easy targets! Thats WHY things like this one happens out HERE. Funny how most of the arrests our sheriffs dept. make these thief’s are so happen to be from the “Crime-less antelope valley ” RIGHT???? Smh lol.

Santa Clarita has become overpopulated thanks in part to all the over building.
And with the over building comes crime (see the valley)
Just wait until the New Hall project starts. Then it might be time to move out.
“The cheese eaters” baaahahahahaha! Thanks for the laugh dude. But times are becoming more desperate for large segments of society. Can’t really predict a slowdown in these types of activities.
No, SCV isn’t as safe as people assume. HOWEVER, Lancaster & Palmdale’s crime stats are FAR FAR higher than SCV’s, and filth from those cities take advantage of the fact that people in SCV have become a little too complacent. Crime follows money, and there’s plenty of it in SCV. Thieves know this. People in this valley need to wake up and realize it’s not Mayberry.
On a scale of 100, with 100 being safest, Santa Clarita scores a 52. Lancaster and Palmdale each score a 29.
Your chance of becoming a victim of crime in SCV is 1 in 525.
In Lancaster, it’s 1 in 185, and in Palmdale its 1 in 191.
Annualized violent crime per 1000 residents in SCV=342.
In Lancaster it’s 859. In Palmdale it’s 812.
Defend Palmdale/Lancaster all you want, the numbers don’t lie.
Agree, really good people.
Criminals are stupid…they will do something dumb and get caught. People like this suck but fortunately no one was hurt and jewelry stores carry lots of inventory insurance.
I’m so very sorry. They are such incredible sweet kind people. Stealing from hard working individuals is just so pathetic.
Javier Garay read this.^^ Like we don’t know. Because of what we do for a living. Shes telling me they don’t have that many criminals ???????? Ok. I rest my case on this one.
