Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information
Week of 01/19/2015 through 01/25/2015
Here’s a look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week:
On Saturday the 24th, a 30 year old male was arrested for the murder of a 3-week-old baby. The crime occurred on Friday the 23rd, in the 21300 block of Alder Drive. If you would like to donate to the family of the victim to help with funeral costs, there is a website posted on the internet under her name, “Ellorah Rose Warner Memorial Fund”.
On Thursday the 22nd, a 21 year old male and a 20 year old male were arrested for robbery in the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue. A stolen sports jersey was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle along with other property possibly stolen from other locations. The same two males were also seen spray painting graffiti in Canyon Country earlier that day.
On Wednesday the 21st, a 26 year old male was arrested for assault and residential burglary in the 21400 block of Grapelilly Circle.
Between Sunday the 18th at 10:00 p.m., and Monday the 19th at 9:30 a.m., a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 25100 block of Highspring Avenue.
Between Saturday the 24th at 11:30 p.m., and Sunday the 25th at 7:30 a.m., a vehicle was burglarized in the 24200 block of Arch Street. There was no damage to the vehicle and only paperwork appeared to be missing.
Between Monday the 19th at 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday the 20th at 9:00 a.m., an attempted vehicle theft occurred in the 23600 block of Meadowridge Drive.
On Thursday the 22nd, an 18 year old male was arrested for grand theft auto in the 22800 Lyons Avenue. The male had been the subject of several disturbance calls recently in other parts of Newhall.
Between Thursday the 22nd at 9:00 p.m., and Friday the 23rd at 5:30 a.m., a Toyota truck was stolen from the 25100 block of DeWolfe Road. The truck has not been recovered yet.
Between Saturday the 24th at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday the 25th at 7:00 a.m., a Ford Truck was stolen from the 23800 block of Fambrough. The truck belongs to a local region of the “AYSO”and has not been recovered yet.
On Tuesday the 20th, three cell phones were stolen from backpacks in the 24800 block Newhall Avenue. One of the cell phones was recovered and a 17 year old girl was charged with the theft.
On Tuesday the 20th, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., a catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Sequoia parked at the Park-and-Ride on Newhall Avenue, East the 14 Freeway.
On Saturday the 24th, between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., tools were stolen from the back of a truck in the 22700 block of Lyons Avenue. A chain was also missing that had been used to hold down the stolen items.
Help take a bite out of crime, remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave packages or valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.
