[KHTS] – The Assembly moved universal preschool in California one step closer with the passage of AB 47, the Preschool for All Act of 2015.
The bill signifies major progress in the commitment made last year by Gov. Jerry Brown and the Legislature to provide quality preschool to all low-income 4 year olds, according to Early Edge California is a sponsor ofAB 47.
The bill now heads to the Assembly floor for a full vote.
“We are pleased and heartened by the progress and support for this critical piece of legislation,” said Deborah Kong, president of Early Edge California. “We are now one step closer to keeping the promise made to our preschoolers in last year’s budget to ensure that every eligible child have access to preschool before they enter kindergarten.”
Early Edge California works to ensure all children have the early experiences necessary to be successful learners by the end of third grade, setting them on a path to college and career readiness. For more information, visit www.earlyedgecalifornia.org.

I’m for all low income american children to get the best education the California taxpayer can pay. That means non Americans need to pay taxes to include their 4 yr.olds in this program or you’re giving free baby sitting to the illegal mothers to clean houses, make 25$s per hour and pay no taxes to support this program. Remember Calif. Is broke!!
It’s the “giving” part that’s hard for you, isn’t it?
No! i agree with Shirley its NOT the giving part..Its the NOT paying taxs part!I would hope to qualify for this program you must fill out something that says “You are a citizen” Even if you collect aid you have to show you are a citizen, right
