Community: Crime Report for Castaic/Val Verde – Week of August 22
The following crimes were reported last week in Castaic / Val Verde:
8/22/16 Vehicle Theft- 31000 block of Castaic Road
The victim reported a brown 1992 Honda Accord was stolen from the location in the early morning hours.
8/23/16 Vehicle Burglary- 31000 block of The Old Road
The business owner reported jumper cables stolen from the tool box of one of his work vehicles.There was also an attempt to enter two other work vehicles parked at the location. Responding deputies found damage to the key mechanisms on both vehicles.
8/24/16 Burglary- 31000 block of Castaic Road.
Between 08/12/16 – 08/23/16, 36 framed paintings of various sizes were taken from the hallway walls of the building. The business estimated the value of the paintings around $11,000.
8/27/16 Assault- 28000 block of Paradise Road.
Deputies responded to a shots fired call at the location. After a confrontation occurred in front of a house having a party, several individuals were reported fighting in the street. One victim reported being hit in the face with an object during the incident. Before the parties dispersed, one individual was seen firing one round from a handgun into the air. Several arrests were made and station detectives are handing the investigation.
Please remember never to leave valuables in plain view in your vehicle, close and lock your doors. Minimize your risk and avoid being the victim of a crime of opportunity.
