IMG_7455 (1)UPDATE: Friends and family of Wyatt Savaikie braved the rain in order to remember the him at a candlelight vigil Saturday evening at Santa Clarita Central Park, where the planned Concert in the Park was canceled to do inclement weather.

“I have people who have never met the family donating, and friends on vacation out of the country, seeing we need help, and taking time out if their vacation to donate,” said Tricia Guardado- Cascione, a longtime family friend of the Savaikies.

In addition to the [YouCaring page] referenced in the video above, here are some more ways to help:

[A GoFundMe page]

[A Meal Train page] (Meal Train enables people to help provide meals to grieving families.)

One can also donate through Chase Bank. Walk into any Santa Clarita Valley Chase branch and make a donation to the account ,“Wyatt Savaikie Donation Account.”

Checks can also be mailed to Chase Bank at 26500 Bouquet Canyon Rd., Santa Clarita, CA 91350.

A fundraising website has been set up to cover funeral expenses for Wyatt Savaikie, the 14-year-old boy who was killed Thursday at a Saugus intersection.

The site was set up by family friend Kevin Bonn, who says in a YouTube video that Wyatt was struck and killed by a 78-year-old man who ran a red light.

wyattsavaikie2015“May the man that killed my son find comfort in his family,” Wyatt’s mother, Teresa Savaikie, said in a post on SCVNews.com.

She said a candlelight ceremony and a church service are being planned.

“He was beautiful,” she said of Wyatt. “We are so honored to have had the privilege of having him in our lives, as our Gentle Giant, our precious son.”

Wyatt is survived by his mother, Teresa; his father, Michael; and a 20-year-old sister and an 18-year-old brother.

He would have been a freshman at Valencia High School in the fall.

If anyone else has been successful getting to the actual fundraiser link, can you please post the information. I keep getting an ad for Helm Lasik. Thank you. No family should have to do this, my heart aches for them.

  8. Such a horrible tragedy. Was close to tears reading the news this week. If anyone knows the family, I would be honored to offer my services at a discount to help them.

  10. This post in the last hour: 8,000+ views, 2,000+ clicks, $1,000 raised … thank you Santa Clarita

  11. I gave money to help the family out RIP

  12. Our thoughts with the family. We did not know the little boy. But this really has hit us hard. So close to home here in Saugus.

  13. My heart broke yesterday morning when I saw his mom grieving at the memorial site. I can’t imagine the pain that she and her family are experiencing and I hope I never do. My deepest condolences to Wyatt’s family and friends.

  14. Here’s hoping the man that was behind the wheel indeed finds comfort. We all feel an undirected rage at the thought of losing such a beautiful kid. It does good to remember not to direct that rage at the driver. Funnel it into helping the grieving family. Was happy to see Wyatt’s mom hope that the driver finds comfort.

  15. Let the organizers of the vigil know that there is a concert in the park at the same time tonight. Parking will be hard and the park possibly very crowded and noisy.

  16. RIP my thoughts and prayers to the family. Such a horrible tragedy.

      • Alana says:

just to clear a few things up.. For the people questioning the cost of a funeral… Please keep in mind… There is much more than that… Take in account his parents not working during this time and lots of other bills… The donation pages were set up by different friends at different times… All trying to help… Please keep your negativity off this link.. This is NOT the time… Or feel free to contact me I’ll b more than happy (even tho we shouldn’t have too) to explain to you whatever you feel you need to know..

  34. Wyatt make God bless you rest in in peace son you will be missed

  37. Kevin Bonn says:

Thanks everyone for your generosity to the Savaikie family! They are so grateful for your support and thoughtful comments.

  38. Sean Borton says:

Sending My Prayers to The Family. Pass it On Brother.. Thanks For Being Friend Kevin Bonn!

  39. So sorry for their loss…my prayers are with the family. I’m confused tho, I see 3 donation pages, one raised over $5000 of $20,000 goal, one over $5000 of $50000 goal and one raised $3100 of a $10000 goal?

  40. Laurie Mano says:

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful son. Prayers to your family.
