Cycling Enthusiasts – Don’t Miss Out!
Child & Family Center presents the sixth annual Santa Clarita Century Ride & Expo, Saturday June 14. Riders have their choice of a 100, 50 or 25 mile ride.
All rides begin at the Westfield Valencia Town Center parking lot at the corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and Citrus Street.
The Century – 7am
This is not an easy century. While not the hardest event on the calendar, it is still challenging with one lengthy climb, three shorter, but extended climbs, and several smaller hills – a total of 6300 feet of gain. Beginning and ending in the beautiful Santa Clarita Valley, the century will eventually follow a portion of the difficult stage of the 2009 Amgen Tour of California.
Half-Century – 8am
The Half-Century is 52 miles, with 3,000 feet of gain
Quarter Century – 9am
25 miles on dedicated city bike paths and paseos.
In addition to the rides, there will be fun and entertainment for the entire family PLUS gourmet food trucks
Registration includes Full SAG support: route maps, manned rest stops and roving support AND a goody bag including socks, product samples, discount coupons and Road Bike Action magazine.
Riders may register at www.santaclaritacentury.com.
A Salute to Fathers!
Celebrate Father’s Day!
The Family Ride gives children of all ages and their parents a chance to experience the excitement of an organized cycling event while benefiting an excellent cause.
The route is an introductory-level ride suited for all ages – approximately 6 miles with no hills, following part of the extensive Santa Clarita bike paths on the paseos around Valencia.
Riders will take off from the Westfield Valencia Town Center parking lot at the corner of Magic Mountain Parkway and Citrus Street at 12 noon, with check-in starting at 11:00 am. Riders are treated to water and refreshments along the way. Children are free, and adults are $10 each to participate.
Riders may register for the Family Fun Ride the morning of the event. Or sign up online for the Family Ride, or the Century Rides at www.santaclaritacentury.com.
