Ken Pulskamp
Mayor Frank Ferry announced Monday that retiring City Manager Ken Pulskamp has accepted the interim City Manager position with the City of Burbank, effective Dec. 3. Ken Pulskamp’s last day as Santa Clarita’s City Manager is Nov. 30.
(Editor’s note: Pulskamp’s previously announced departure date was “the end of this year.” Assistant City Manager Ken Striplin starts his duties as Santa Clarita city manager on Jan. 1.)
Ken Pulskamp announced his retirement plans in August, letting the City Council, city staff and community know he would soon be leaving his post as City Manager. Shortly after his announcement, he was approached by Burbank City Council members, asking if he was interested in serving as their interim City Manager, a position they needed to fill when their City Manager, Mike Flad was hired as South Gate’s new City Manager.
Ken Pulskamp has worked for the City of Santa Clarita since 1988, serving as Assistant City Manager for 15 years and as City Manager for the last 10 years. He has 35 years in city management in California.
“The City Council and staff are very sorry to see Ken leave. He has done an incredible job leading our City and leaves a legacy of accomplishments,” commented Mayor Frank Ferry.
“We wish him all the best in Burbank and in his future endeavors. He is a tremendous leader and will always have a place in our hearts in Santa Clarita,” added Ferry.
