The Saugus baseball team has won three of their past four games in the Valley Invitational Baseball League and is climbing in the summer standings.
The Centurions take on Royal from Simi Valley today gunning for their eighth win of the season.
Saugus beat the Spartans from Sylmar, 14-3, on Tuesday. The Centurions also beat Crespi, 13-1 and Paraclete, 10-3.
The only loss in that stretch came against Hart, 12-8.
The Indians are coming off an 11-0 shutout against Crespi. They play the Titans from Woodland Hills today.
Canyon is home for a game against Notre Dame today.
The Valley North team from Chatsworth leads the Valley Invitational Baseball League standings with an 11-2 record.
Valencia is in fifth place at 6-4. Hart is in seventh with a 10-7 record. Saugus in ninth at 7-5.
The Dodgers are headed to San Diego to start the second half of the season against the Padres on Friday night.
Clayton Kershaw will start for the Dodgers. Clayton Richard is slotted to start for the Padres.
Matt Kemp is expected to come off the disabled list for Friday’s game. But the Dodgers are still a little banged up.
Shortstop Dee Gordon has a torn ligament in his thumb that requires surgery and is expected to miss six weeks.
Outfielder Andre Ethier and starter Ted Lilly are still on the disabled list. Ethier can come off the DL next week.
Lilly has been on the DL with a shoulder injury since June 28.
The Dodgers are in first place in the National League West with a 47-40 record. They have a half-game lead over the San Francisco Giants.
