With assistance from L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies from Lancaster and a sharp-eyed local resident, deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station apprehended a theft suspect in Canyon Country Sunday morning.
Here’s the story from the SCV station’s social media:
“A suspect went into a store located at Sand Canyon/Soledad Canyon on Sunday morning and allegedly filled a cart with alcoholic beverages, and left without attempting to pay.
“When a store employee approached the suspect in the parking lot, the suspect acted in a threatening manner and fled the scene in his vehicle — but not before a citizen was able to get his license plate number.
“A crime broadcast with the suspect’s vehicle information was shared with deputies from here all the way to Lancaster.
“Later that same morning, a Lancaster Sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s description. A traffic stop was initiated, and SCV Sheriff’s deputies were notified.
“The suspect was positively identified out in the field and was found to have the stolen goods in his possession. Deputies arrested the man on felony charges of robbery. Thanks to everyone involved.”
