To raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in the 21st century, the College of the Canyons Foundation will hold its spring Chancellor’s Circle Breakfast Briefing “Cyber Security: The Threat is Real – What You Can Do to Protect Yourself” on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center.

The briefing will be conducted as a panel discussion, which will be followed by a moderator-led Q&A session and an audience Q&A session.

“The issue of cybersecurity is a concern to everyone,” said Jill Mellady, chair of the Chancellor’s Circle and President and Chief Marketing Officer at Mellady Direct Marketing. “We hope this breakfast briefing will help attendees take the necessary precautionary measures to protect themselves from becoming a victim.”

The panel discussion will cover the following topics:

· “Cybersecurity: The Threat is Real” – Howard Miller, CRM, CIC, Director of Tech Secure Division, LBW Insurance
· “You’ve Been Hit… Now What?” – Ed Padilla, NE Systems, Inc.
· “Navigating the Legal Aspects of a Data Breach” – Michael Little, Poole & Shaffery
· “Your 1st Line of Security Against a Data Breach” – Bob Jenner, The Network Doctor
· John Palmieri, FBI, TEC Task Force

The briefing will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center lobby.

A light breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m., which will provide networking opportunities to attendees.
