SAN BERNARDINO – Rico Garcia gave up just one run and received ample run support to lead the Lancaster JetHawks to an 8-1 win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Tuesday night at San Manuel Stadium.

Garcia (6-7) helped the JetHawks (30-35) snap a three-game losing streak by snapping a four-game skid of his own. He is now tied for the league-lead with six wins. The right-hander delivered his eighth quality start in 13 starts this season, giving up the one run on six hits over 6.2 innings while striking out four and walking three.

The JetHawks offense had scored a team-low 3.9 runs per game in Garcia’s starts this season but supplied him with plenty of support Tuesday. Vince Fernandez and Colton Welker hit back-to-back doubles in the first inning to get on the board early, and Brian Serven added a solo home run to lead off the second inning.

Lancaster led 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Inland Empire (31-34) scored its only run of the game on a Franklin Navarro infield single.

Jacob Bosiokovic helped pile on with a solo home run in the fourth inning. Carlos Herrera followed with a triple, and the JetHawks would go on to add two more runs in the inning on a Manny Melendez single and Fernandez sac-fly.

66ers starter Erik Manoah (1-6) lasted only 4.2 innings. He allowed seven runs on eight hits.

The JetHawks tied a season-high with seven extra-base hits including two doubles from Roberto Ramos.

Each Lancaster starter recorded at least one hit in the game except for Max George who drew walks in all four of his plate appearances, a season-high for a JetHawks hitter.

The win moved Lancaster within two games of first place in the South Division with five games to play in the first half.

The series continues on Wednesday night at San Manuel Stadium. Left-hander Ty Culbreth (1-3) is scheduled to start for the JetHawks opposite Matt Ball (1-0). First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
