A Sigalert was issued Saturday for an overturned big-rig on northbound Interstate 5 just south of Pyramid Lake.
The crash was reported at 5:23 p.m. The cause was unknown.
Traffic was backed up for miles while emergency responders extracted injured parties from the collision.
The big-rig driver was transported to a hospital by ambulance.
Two of four occupants of a Nissan Xterra that was hauling an empty U-Haul trailer sustained life-threatening injuries. Three of the Nissan’s occupants were airlifted and the fourth was transported by ambulance to a hospital.
The semi-truck was hauling an open, stake bed-type trailer loaded with pallets of bagged concrete. A large amount of scattered concrete had to cleared from the center divider and traffic lanes.
The slow lane reopened at about 6:30 p.m.

We just passed this going south on the 5 after the air lift had happened. Traffic still backed up for at least 10 miles with 60% of the ppl standing out of their cars on the freeway! The semi is still overturned with no tow truck in place to upright it yet :(
I was one of the cars waiting for 3 hours to get through, while this accident got cleared up.
Does anyone know how the injured parties are doing…?
