[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials arrested a suspected member of the Vagos biker gang Monday morning, in connection with a pair of weekend stabbings in April outside The Vu bar in Newhall.

Kevin James King, 38, of Los Angeles, was arrested around 9:40 a.m. at his home, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

He was booked on two counts of attempted murder, and deputies are planning to seek a special gang allegation against him, officials said Tuesday.

Sheriff’s Station officials indicated another arrest could still take place in the assault, which officials described as a verbal altercation that escalated into violence.

Robert Arvizu, 47, of Newhall, was arrested in connection with the fight shortly after the crime took place.

He was arrested in April and briefly held in lieu of $1 million bail.

He was released the following Tuesday after his court appearance.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives with the Career Offenders Burglary Robbery Assault Unit, or COBRA, a squad specialized in gang-related incidents, investigated the Newhall stabbings.

The fight and alleged attempted murder took place around 12:50 a.m. April 20 near The VU Bar and Lounge, officials said.

The victims, whose names were not released Sheriff’s Station officials, were taken to the hospital with wounds that were not life-threatening, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

The Vagos are considered a major “Outlaw Motorcycle Gang” operating throughout the country, according to a 2011 FBI report titled “National Gang Threat Assessment.”

King is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, according to Sheriff’s Department records.

Arvizu is not in custody at this time.

A court date for King has not yet been assigned, according to Sheriff’s Department records.

  5. Anonymous says:

Let me get this right. The victims were treated for non life threatening wounds and the alleged suspect is charged with attempted murder? And just because he’s an alleged member of a unpopular motorcycle club he isn’t allowed to defend himself and the cops are trying to make this into some kind of hyped up Gang violence. Please SCV deputies don’t do us any favors.

  6. Douglas Arms says:

SCV Sheriffs have made an arrest. Captain save a ho to the rescue.

  7. So is rob still being charged with this??

    • No, he was cleared completely when he appeared in court the next day. Horrible what happened to him. I’m glad they have arrested someone for this crime, but still feel really bad about how Rob was arrested for something he had nothing to do with.

  8. Douglas Arms says:

Let me get this straight. 2 victims were treated for non life threatening injuries so the SCV deputies charge the alleged suspect with attempted murder? Could this be because the alleged suspect is a member of an motorcycle club unpopular with the sheriff’s department? And because this alleged membership he doesn’t have the right to defend himself? Are these deputies just trying to hype this into a gang related violence to validate the waste of tax payer money on these COBRA organizations within the department? Isn’t COBRA actually an armed gang themselves?

  9. Is he considered an accomplice?

  10. Dana Kert says:

Im sorry Eric Baker, really what does living in Newhall have to do w anything. There are “bad” people in Valencia and Saugus as well. Your comment is as ignorant as you. Carry on w your judgmental self!

  16. Hey Chris Johnson I know the whole story. I was there so you have a guy that comes into a town and stabs 2 people and that makes the town bad!!! So the campus at USB is bad because a guy goes and kills people?

  17. Why can’t they keep Rob’s name out of their mouths?!?! They cleared him of the charges; act as such.

  18. They should write that he was cleared of charges. Mentioning his name again and that he is not in custody isn’t the same.

    Don’t worry Eric Havercroft…
This dude Chris obviously hasn’t got a shadow of a clue as to what he’s talking about…
Dude reads an article and thinks he knows everything…
Now he’s trying to tell it how it is, to a guy that works there and was there on that night..!

Also, Rob is shaken up bad enough over this…
It was a mistake that he was ever arrested in the first place… They need to drop his name from this article… He had no involvement… He deserves some peace..!

  33. And yes, they need to leave Rob alone that’s BS

  34. I beg to differ…most of the violent crimes in scv take place around the jakes way area of canyon country.

  40. Sheriff’s are the primary gang out there. Funny that the same sheriff’s arresting everyone are the same sheriff’s who beat inmates in the booking area. If any one has been assaulted by officer drake or hassled by officer Coles please make a report.,SCV sheriff’s are bigger criminals then the guys they wrote this article about. scvtv Should do an article on the corrupt sheriff’s department

  41. I like how people are defending Newhall, when I was in prison, the southsiders (the Mexican American gang bangers) knew about Newhall and acknowledged the gang there. Obviously they are not going hard and putting in work, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist or have zero connections.

  42. Yeah I seen a few vagos at backwoods inn

  43. I wonder how many of the people bagging Newhall actually live there. I’ve lived in North Valencia, Westridge, and the granary square area, and personally I love Newhall. It’s a good community with character and history. The city has made great improvements with the new library and all of the street improvements. It has some of the best dining and nightlife in the valley. For sure there are problem areas, but what happened at the Vu does not represent Newhall.

  44. If people want to fight and do something that people will respect you join the military or police

  45. I’ve been told nothing ever bad happens in Santa Clarita..

  46. Mary Cain says:

Katy Benjamin Brown did you read this?

  47. GiveMeABreak says:

Wow. Its obvious that nobody really knows how volitile Rob truly is. Where is he now? Oh yeah…he murdered his wife. Pooor Rob. Give me a frick’n break people. You have to be feeling pretty stupid about now. You’ve been betrayed. SURPRISE!!! Damn. Talk about rose colored glasses. Wake up. Courtney is dead. He beat her to death. Period.

  48. GiveMeABreak says:

BTW…there is crime EVERYWHERE people. Nice neighborhoods, sweet sleepy neighborhoods, mansions and trailer parks and shacks. Give me a break!! Get your face out of your iphone and start being more aware of your surroundings. Your living in denial. Stop it.
