The FilAm Association of SCV is proud to present a musical play of “Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang” (The Stories of Grandmother Basyang), an anthology of short stories by popular literary author Severino Reyes.
Reyes published his first story in 1925 in a Tagalog magazine Liwayway. His stories became so popular and became a favorite nighttime stories of parents and grandparents. The kids loved the majesty, the extravagance, the tales and the moral values of each story. Due to their popularity, Reyes’ stories have since been published and adapted in television, films and stage plays.
In a one night only performance, Lola Basyang will take you back in time and take you to a colorful, majestic, comical and heart warming play through music and dances at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Newhall.
Malaya Filipino American Dance Arts along with several talented musical entertainers and actors will be featured.
The magical experience of “Mga Kwento Ni Lola Basyang” will be presented at the Canyon Theatre Guild on Saturday, Sept. 6. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available and famous traditional Filipino arts and crafts will be on display.
General admission tickets are $30 and reserved center stage VIP seats are $50. Seats are limited.
