Position: Part-time TV news producer/news writer
SCVTV is seeking a qualified candidate to fill one part-time position (2 to 3 days per week, M-F) to produce the nightly SCV NewsBreak for television and web, and generate news stories for SCVNews.com.
Applicant must be available from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on 2 to 3 specific days per week.
Exceptional Final Cut Pro skills, basic understanding of HTML, and strong familiarity with the Santa Clarita Valley are required.
Applicant must have expertise in both video editing and news writing. Requirements include a minimum of 3 years of experience with Final Cut Pro editing, and a journalism background with experience as a solo producer and news writer.
Applicant must have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of video production including videography, audio, lighting and non-linear editing, along with the ability to generate, report, write and produce news.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and reporting skills, experience in both broadcast and print or web journalism, great news judgment, familiarity with HTML, the ability to produce a nightly 5-minute video newscast and deliver daily news stories for SCVNews.com, and be able to deliver on deadline.
Qualities:
Applicant must be a hard worker with a can-do attitude who is both creative and technical.
Education:
A degree in journalism is preferred.
