More than 60 Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers attended a celebratory commemorative breakfast Oct. 16 at the hospital. A special video (above) aired during the event chronicling the Auxiliary’s 50 years of service to the hospital and SCV community.

Roger Seaver, CEO and president of the hospital provided opening remarks. “You are an asset we treasure here every day,” Seaver said.

Frank Ferry, Mayor of Santa Clarita, presented a certificate of appreciation to the Auxiliary for 50 years of service to the Santa Clarita Valley and its nearly 275,000 residents.

“For patients in recovery, you are the morale boosters,” Ferry said. “Thank you to all of you trusted and loyal volunteers. We want you to triple those 50 years.”

Since 1962, before Henry Mayo opened officially opened its doors in 1975, through today, the Auxiliary has dedicated thousands of hours of service to the hospital. The Santa Clarita Valley Women’s Auxiliary or the “Pink Ladies” as they were known in the 1960s and 1970s because of the color of their uniforms, raised funds, helped with patient care ran the gift shop and organized tours for the hospital.

Known today as the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, this dedicated group of more than 100 men and women continue to volunteer their services and raise funds for patient care and healthcare technology at the hospital. The Auxiliary manages the gift shop and hosts several fundraising events. Auxiliary volunteers also support special Parent Preview and Tyke Hike tours at the hospital.
