In her final act as congresswoman for California’s 25th congressional district, Rep. Katie Hill, D-Agua Dulce, voted Thursday to move forward with impeachment proceedings against President Donald J. Trump during her final floor speech.
Hill said she voted to impeach the president because of his alleged abuse of power over women.
“(Thursday) as my final act, I voted to move forward with the impeachment of Donald Trump on behalf of the women of the United States of America,” Hill said. “We will not stand down. We will not be broken. We will rise and will make tomorrow better than today.”
Hill also apologized to her constituents, colleagues, supporters, friends, and family in her farewell address.
“For every little girl that looked up to me, I hope one day you can forgive me,” Hill said.
Hill resigned Sunday after intimate photos and personal text messages were leaked. An investigation soon after was opened by the House Ethics Committee into allegations Hill had a relationship with a congressional staff member. Hill later denied those allegations, but did admit to having a relationship with a campaign staff member.
Gov. Gavin Newsom will have until Friday, Nov. 15, to issue a proclamation calling for a special election to fill the vacant seat.

And with your vote you have proved you were never qualified for the position you held. The inquiry into President Trump’s impeachment has absolutely NOTHING to do with what you say is his alleged abuse of power over women, and your reason for supporting impeachment. Enjoy your life back in the private sector, Katie, you won’t be missed.
