LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team improved its record to 21-3 (11-1 GSAC) after beating Biola University 68-53 at Chase Gym in La Mirada.
Currently, the 10th-ranked Lady Mustangs sit on top of the conference standings as they have a half game advantage over No. 2 Westmont College.
“Biola is playing really well, so to go to their place and get this kind of team victory makes me pleased with our progress,” said TMC head coach Dan Waldeck. “I thought we shared the ball and really defended the rim well. It’s great to have our full lineup back on the court, so I think we’ll just keep getting better.”
After outscoring the Eagles through all four quarters (18-11, 17-15, 17-16, 16-11), TMC finished the evening by going 27-58 (47%) from the field, 4-9 (43%) on free throws, and 10-27 (37%) on three-pointers. TMC also tallied 41 rebounds, 13 assists, 12 turnovers, five blocks and four steals against the Eagles.
Leading TMC’s scoring efforts was Megan Lindsley (Vancouver, WA) who finished the evening with 14 points. Lindsley was joined by three other Lady Mustangs who scored in double figures as Ashley Bartow (Sun Prairie, WI) finished the evening with 11 points, while Bianca Cubello (Riverside, CA) and Chayan Lowery (Spring Valley, CA) each scored 10 points.
Lowery championed TMC’s defensive efforts by producing eight rebounds and three blocks.
On Saturday, the Lady Mustangs will return to Bross Court and host Hope International University in a 5:30 p.m. tilt.
Saturday will also be senior night for the Lady Mustangs as The Master’s College Athletic Department will honor Nicole Nitake, Olivia Thompson, and Shannon Kingery after the game.
