Wish there were more places in Santa Clarita where these people could be helped. We got rid of our one shelter and built a rec center – now we’re getting rid of encampments – I agree that they weren’t necessarily safe but what are these people supposed to do?
This is such a sad story. No one should have to die alone. The article states he had a medical condition, so why wasn’t he in hospice? God speed sir, God speed. I will say a prayer for you today.

As far as the homeless in SCV there are way too many kids living in the wash and the parks, around the mall etc.
Parents need to stop trying “tough love” and throwing their kids away for drug use and not having a job. Keep your kids at home where you can continue to slowly influence them while doing the best you can to keep them safe.
the world is worse now then when we grew up and your kids will end up dead if you don’t keep them as safe as you can until they stop the drugs or get a job. The drugs might kill them but if you are there the chances are better you can work with them to win that war.
I have 4 kids and three of them went through issues at one time. Serious issues. I never threw them out even when tempted. I now have 4 adult children from 22 to 34 and all of them are leading good lives.
Kids in their 20’s even with college degrees can’t afford apt’s here. They can’t pass the credit application to get an apt either.
I live in a very nice neighborhood and the kids that grew up on my street are all still living at home except one or two. They are all in their early to late 20’s. This applies even if they finished college or went to a trade school. They can’t afford to move out anymore.
By the time they hit their 30’s they seem to be able to move out.
If they are using drugs all the more reason to keep them at home where you can try and keep trying to get them help until it finally sticks. I don’t care if they steal money from you or whatever. DO NOT throw your kids away.
They can end up dead in the wash if you don’t.
The things they learn and the people they hang out with in the wash are not where you want your kids!
Don’t fool yourself that they are sleeping on someone’s couch. They need to be at home. I am talking about kids from 16 to 28 or so. GO GET YOUR KIDS NOW AND BRING THEM HOME BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

He had choices. He was invited by his family to come to Minnesota get any job and have a better life. His family sent him $ on many occasions. This is the life Todd chose. Why is the million $ question.
Unfortunately some people believe it or not choose to be homeless. Sympathy go out to his family.
Todd was my cousin. Although I was not close to him, I do know that he had heart disease and had been hospitalized at least twice in the last year, probably for heart attacks. He has an estranged brother who lives in the Santa Clarita Valley. I don’t know what his personal situation was, but I do know that he was caretaker for many years for his mother, who had lupus and died a couple years ago. Not every homeless person is a bum.
Thank you everyone. I do agree with Raelyn, he spent all his time serving our church and the people of it. He was the best dad and such an incredible man! He deserves a lot more then just this article!
Krystal. Your dad was awesome man. I am happy to call him my friend. Everytime i see him. We have a good laugh and sometimes a good laugh at a good friend of ours. Im glad I saw him 2 weeks ago. Im saddend that he is gone. You keep his memories alive. He is with God, some one who he loved.
