[KHTS] More than a 100-mile stretch of the northbound 14 Freeway that was shut down due to high winds in the Antelope Valley has been reopened as of 3:45 p.m. Tuesday.
On Tuesday at approximately 2 p.m., the California Highway Patrol issued a traffic advisory in Antelope Valley, closing all lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway to high-profile vehicles from Avenue D in Lancaster to Lone Pine, south of Bishop.
The closure was in effect for high profile vehicles “proven to be in danger,” such as trucks or vehicles towing a trailer. However, passenger vehicles, such as compact cars or low trucks, are OK continue at a lower speed, CHP officials said.
The stretch of the 14 Freeway that was closed is a vital road for those travelling to Mammoth Lakes from the Santa Clarita Valley, where many families commute for the holidays.
Those towing a trailer or driving in a high profile vehicle should use an alternative route, such as the one provided above.
