Two Sylmar men were arrested for burglarizing two cars and stealing from a construction site Friday at 6:30 a.m., a Sheriff’s official said.
The suspects were captured after a Saugus resident spotted them breaking into his car Garzota Street. The victim took down the men’s license plate number and called sheriff’s deputies, who caught up with the men a short while later near Via Princessa in Canyon Country.
The suspects were identified as Daniel Santrini, 28, and Brian Martinez, 19.
Both men were seen loading cement bags, cinder blocks and a pumping hose into their truck when deputies apprehended them, said Lt. Mark Hershey of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. They were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and grand theft.
They were also linked to another recent car burglary on McBean Parkway. The stolen items were returned to the victims today, Hershey said.
Santrini was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and other drugs, Hershey said.
