The city of Santa Clarita turned 30 on December 15. In honor of this milestone, we’ve put together a list of books dominating the individual years from 1987 on. The books are a blend of literary fiction, nonfiction, humor, bestsellers, memoirs, and cross-over titles from juvenile and young adult fiction.
And they certainly aren’t dusty. In fact, many have inspired current movies and TV shows – from Jurassic Park to Outlander to the Game of Thrones. We’ve broken The Da Vinci Code and ridden with The Girl on the Train; laughed with David Sedaris and Tina Fey, and cried with the family of Henrietta Lacks and the teens facing illness inbThe Fault in Our Stars. Finally, we certainly can’t forget a very influential wizard named Harry Potter!
Take a look at our 30 Books for 30 Years List and see how many of these books you may have read over the last three decades.
Or use the list to inspire yourself to read these popular titles for the very first time! All are available through the library – in fact we are featuring them in a Happy Birthday Display at Valencia Library! Come by and browse, or visit our website at SantaClaritaLibrary.com and peruse different formats – ebooks and digital audio books. It’s a great way to celebrate.

There is no link to the 30 books.
Actually there is … it’s in the last paragraph … we’ve made it bold so you can see it better
John’s right. There’s a link to the SC Public Library site, but there’s no listing of the “30 Books for 30 Years” on the home page, Events, or Books.
This omission reminds me once again why I have not patronized the Santa Clarita library since the city council pulled us out of the county library system and set up their own little fiefdom. This lack of information on their website about a publicized event does not entice me to head over to a SC library. I’ll stick with the LA City library near my workplace.
