Assemblywoman Pilar Schiavo (D-Chatworth) is inviting community members to nominate local veterans for the 40th Assembly District’s annual “Veteran of the Year” award, which honors one extraordinary veteran who continues to serve and uplift the community long after their military service.
“Our district is home to incredible veterans who show us every day what service, leadership and compassion look like,” said Schiavo. “As the daughter of a veteran and Chair of the Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs, I believe those who have served and continue to strengthen our community deserve recognition.”
The honoree will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 7, in advance of Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Nominations are open to all veterans who reside within the 40th Assembly District and have demonstrated exceptional commitment to community service and leadership.
Nomination Criteria:
— Must reside in the 40th Assembly District.
— Has served in the U.S. military (any branch).
— Demonstrates continued service, leadership and community impact.
Community members are encouraged to submit nominations by Monday, Nov. 3.
The Veteran of the Year Event will be held 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7.
