A year in the making — staff and volunteers of the SCVTV Community Media Center have been working to produce ‘Finding Art’ Season 3, which is set to air Wednesdays in October.
Finding Art is a TV program produced by the SCVTV Community Media Center in an effort to showcase as many individual artists, arts & cultural organizations and community events as possible. The show airs in October to align with the city of Santa Clarita’s Artober celebration.
The five-episode season includes 14 stories about artists, arts organizations, school art programs and events. In lieu of commercial breaks, the series contains more than 30 short segments (about 30 seconds each) that were both filmed by SCVTV staff & volunteers and submitted by community artists throughout the year.
The Finding Art production team also recently created a community group on Facebook for Finding Art called the Finding Art Artists Exchange in an effort to enable artists & organizations to promote themselves and collaborate.
“Finding Art employs a journalistic- and documentary-style of storytelling. Throughout the year our producers find Santa Clarita artists and events, and introduce them to our viewers with artistically-shot and sometimes archival footage,” said Jessica Boyer, production manager of SCVTV and co-creator of Finding Art. “We hope this program will provide an additional platform for individuals as well as organizations to showcase their work. We also hope that this program will acquaint artists with audiences that may not know about them yet.”
Finding Art will begin airing on October 2 on Spectrum 20, AT&T 99, SCVTV.com and livestreaming on both the Finding Art & SCVTV facebook pages. Seasons 1-3 can be found on demand at http://findingartsantaclarita.com or on Spectrum 20 and AT&T 99 on Wednesdays 6 p.m. -9 p.m. and Fridays 2:30 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Production for the next season is already underway, and local artists are encouraged to submit their work here: http://findingartsantaclarita.com. Find more information about Finding Art on the SCVTV Facebook page, the Finding Art Facebook page and SCVTV’s Instagram (@scvtv).
“The arts are the best insurance policy a city can take on itself.”
