Just passed right by there. Had that street blocked and Eyewitness 7 News was there. That small area always has some drama.
Which area???
Right past the Mexican supermarket. One block west of Sierra on Soledad. Going up that hill.
Actually I live on Shangri-la hill. Its a very nice, quiet neighborhood when non residents stay out of it!
Yep! I live up there too. Very quiet, normally peaceful neighborhood. It’s weird when there is something causing commotion. I couldn’t get home. The streets were blocked off. Tried getting to shangri la through Nathan hill and right when we got close I heard the gunshots. Scary stuff! I wonder what caused the officer to shoot
Idk. I live off Nathan Hill but was at Canyon High during all the commotion. Got home to squad cars and helicopters.
I sure wish ppl didn’t use our neighborhood as a short cut.
I guess the weirdo that posted “always some drama there” deleted her comment.
I was going to Oggi’s to get a pizza and I’m surprised there is some “shortcut” in your neighborhood to get to some magical area?
Show me the shortcut?
No, you deleted his comments because you chose to disagree.
It’s a great shortcut that I will continue to use.
Short cut from canyon high school to shangri la / soledad bypassing whites/ soledad traffic
At 7 at night?
There is no traffic.
And out come the idiots.
The “magical” short cut is used by ppl traveling to and from Canyon High mostly. Not going to give details as I wish these ppl would stay out since 90% of them fly through like there on a racetrack inconsiderate of the residents.
And no. Not at 7pm. At 7-8am is what we were talking about.
And no. I did not delete anyone’s comment as I don’t particularly care to…and you called her a him. Nice job.
I don’t live in shangri la but I KNOW people use this neighborhood as a “short cut” to bypass Soledad & all the lights, because when I lived up off whites cyn/plum and used to go thru this area every day to drop my daughter off at school near sand cyn.
Lol I think if people do not like people driving through their neighborhood, they should probably move to a gated community. Lord knows we have an abundance of those in this valley. Do we know for a fact that this guy dint live in that area? That area is not what it used to be, seems plausible he might have lived there. I am glad I moved from that area although I loved the view.
Don’t care about ppl driving through…I hate ppl SPEEDING through like idiots. It is still a residential neighborhood not a fwy.
That is true. But unfortunately when I lived there I noticed both residents and shortcutters (don’t know if that is a word lol) speeding through that area.
It is unfortunate
Sheesh…wait for all the true, confirmed details from reliable news sources in the morning!
“quiet neighborhood when non residents stay out of it!” I’m pretty sure you said nothing about speeding. and my family uses that short cut to get our children the elementary school. It’s a public street. You don’t own it. So stop being a stuck up jerk. People speed through out a bunch of streets and neighborhoods.
So Im a stuck up jerk because I hate the fact that people fly down this hill with no regard to the safety of the kids and people’s property who live here? Maybe I’m only a stuck up jerk because I live in a nice neighborhood…otherwise I would probably just be a jerk. The speed limit up here is 35 mph and 25 mph but ppl fly through here in a hurry at upwards of 55mph and several have lost control of their vehicles and ended up in our backyards!!!
Imo scv drivers in general need to slow the f down. Proof of this is the constant car accidents and kids getting killed.
Ya these are public streets. Doesn’t mean I have to like the way the public abuses them! Drive through all you want as often as you want. Admire the beautiful view and pretty houses….but don’t endanger everyone in our neighborhood with your reckless driving. Its a steep hill. Use your damn brakes!
Hahaha years ago placerita canyon folks complained about people racing through “their” road and when the sheriffs patrolled it they found most of the speeders caught were residents.
Lol. Welp. I dont care. I drive carefully so it wont be me!
So if there is a homicide detective there, was the person killed or is this a just in case the suspect doesn’t make it?
Homicide always investigates officer involved shootings. Just protocol.
Thank you! Never knew that.
Suspect died at the hospital
Oh man, thanks for the update Shannon.
Shannon, has that information been confirmed? I haven’t seen that info on any of the news sites.
Suspect is dead
Saw and heard the helicopter. Figured it was something serious.
Stay safe Deputies ?❤️?❤️?❤️
Anelle Iglesias this is what happened!!!
Yikes ?
Be safe and vigilant Deputies! Thank you for your and your families sacrifices everyday to keep us safe.
Well. Streets are still blocked off because of sheriff investigation
Dont trust the badge
Why?
Then don’t call 911 ever if you are in need of help.
I Dont trust the badge cause if u run into one today it’s all intimidation. Kimberly Jellings Shaughnessy I’ve been in a few emergency situations. The key is staying calm and asses as nessessary. My tour in Afghanistan tought me everything I need to know to go in and get out of dangerous situations so 911 is more of an option if needed. But after a cop decides to punk on u for being in the military cause “you couldn’t find a career” and “you did nothing for this country” you tell me how much respect u have for a badge.
look Maria De La Rosa
I don’t care about the suspect. Sorry. As long as our Officer was unharmed, then thats what matters.
?
Wow real shame on some.people such as yourself have some.respect something you obviously haven’t learned in your lifetime
The suspect is still a human being people. It’s a sad situation for all involved.
Fuk u
Kayelin Neri
omg……….We all live here, we can take any route through anywhere whenever we want. Stop being so territorial people.
Cops shouldn’t be alone, especially at night. What’s the lethal range of a knife, anyway? This is right near where they killed a mental patient waving a piece of scrap metal a while back. Bullies are a genetic aberration.
Don’t trust the badge?
A person can cover a 20 foot gap with a knife in hand in about 2 seconds. Knives can penetrate the bullet proof vests law enforcement use as they are made of materials and are designed to stop blunt force trauma injuries inflicted by a bullet. A knife easily penetrates these vests and thus are considered a lethal threat when encountered. Depending on the distance between the deputy and the subject, the only option may be to draw and fire. It’s a lot to process in such a short time. You have to identify the threat, make the decision to use lethal force, then act. All of this in about 2 seconds. It’s a sad thing someone lost their life. It’s unfortunate the individual was allegedly combative and posed such a threat that lethal force had to be used. The decision to threaten the deputy was his and his alone. He could have chosen to act differentl. He could have surrendered himself and been taken into custody for possession of the knife. Whatever the outcome of the investigation, I’m grateful for the job our Sheriffs do. It’s not easy, not one bit. You see and hear all the worst things that occur in our city and deal with some pretty unsavory characters on a daily basis. I’m glad the deputy is safe and was able to go home to his/her family and wish them well in the upcoming process they have to go through after a shooting.
Article says a knife was found. Now the dead guy was brandishing it meanacingly. How about knife vs car door while waiting for tasers and or beanbags etc?
Instead of the sheriffs shooting ppl on our street maybe they could sit a cruiser here at 7-8am and nail all the speeders flying through the area.
Ricci Lynn Ackerman this was by your house saw it at 1030 when I was headed home..
Yeah we watched the helicopter circle it and I saw the ambulance go through the neighborhood on its way to the hospital
My boyfriend and I wanted to go to Hibiki last night and we couldn’t get in, this is why! Wow!
You’re a moron
Wow i live here didnt even know!!
