SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Master’s College women’s basketball team will enter the 2013-14 season ranked 10th on the NAIA DI Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.
Two other Golden State Athletic Conference teams join the Lady Mustangs on the Top 25 Preseason Poll: No. 1 Vanguard, and No. 3 Westmont.
On the preseason conference poll, Vanguard, the defending GSAC Tournament champion, was selected to finish first in conference play with 59 points and four first-place votes, while reigning NAIA national champion Westmont tallied 57 points and three first-place votes, poising them for a second-place finish. The Lady Mustangs earned 50 points and received a single first-place vote.
In the 2012-13 season, the Lady Mustangs posted 25 wins (25-6), the fourth-most in program history, finishing a strong third in the Golden State Athletic Conference and returning to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in five years.
This weekend, the squad will take a tour of the Pacific Northwest where it will engage in exhibition games against a pair of NCAA Division I teams: Washington State and Eastern Washington.
Next week, the Lady Mustangs will open their season on the road in Rocklin against Northwest Christian (OR) at the Bill Holtz Classic. Tip off is set for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8.
