20130309 - TRINITY - Cheer State Champions-5

The Trinity Classical Academy varsity cheerleading team took home first place at the California Cheer and Dance State Championship hosted by Spirit Club International on Saturday, March 9th.

The Trinity cheerleaders performed a near flawless routine in the Varsity Intermediate Non-Tumbling Division, hitting all of their stunts and pyramids while executing sharp and synchronized moves.

There were 24 teams competing in the cheer portion of the California Cheer and Dance State Championship, in various divisions.  All teams competed for Championship Hoodies and Special Grand Champion Awards.  Championship teams were required to score a minimum 80% or better in their division for the Championship Hoodies.  Not only did the Trinity cheerleader win Championship Hoodies, they were also awarded a Grand Champion award for Best Stunt Sequence.

Led by Captains Christina DeMarois and Taylor Totten, the Trinity cheerleader capped off a great two-week run beginning with a championship on February 23rd at the UCA West Coast State Competition.

Out of the 15 members of the cheer squad, nine were part of the inaugural junior high cheer season which began six years ago.
