[Unitarian Universalist Church] – With the New Year come resolutions, but have you made those fateful decisions concerning “The Resolution of Your Life”?

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Clarita Valley invites local residents to an “end-of-life” planning event on Sunday, January 15, 2011, from noon to 2 PM at the SCV Senior Center, 22900 Market St., in Newhall. The event is free, and will provide an overview of such vital subjects as wills, trusts, advanced health care directives, life insurance and more.

Guest speakers include attorney Robert Mansour (www.mansourlaw.com), financial planner Arif Halaby from Total Financial Solutions (www.tfswealth.com). Also appearing will be insurance agent Carolyn Shelby from Life Happens Insurance Solutions and medical social worker Beth Jenkins.

Arif Halaby

Arif Halaby (www.tfswealth.com) has dedicated his life to protecting people. He has transitioned from nearly 11 years of service with the Los Angeles Police Department to helping people protect and preserve their hard-earned assets through his financial services company, Total Financial Solutions, Inc. Halaby’s focus and mission is to help people save money, get out of debt, and plan for retirement.

Halaby has been working with family financial matters since 1996 and is now President and CEO of Total Financial Solutions, Inc. He holds life, health, property and casualty insurance licenses and specializes in retirement planning. Additionally, he holds endorsements for annuities and long-term care insurance. His passion for educating his clients and the community resulted in the formation of Total Money School in 2002. He has taught financial principles as a guest speaker at many PTA events and numerous companies through the “Lunch-n-Learn” program.

Additionally, Halaby has expertise in business development. He has been involved with more than 80 companies as a consultant, member of the board, or corporate officer. He has vast experience in helping business owners maximize their earning potential through creative business marketing models and wise saving and insurance decisions.

Through Halaby’s community involvement and charitable outreach efforts, he has helped many individuals and families across Southern California. He founded a program called Leaders of Character and sits as an active Executive Board Member for the Western Los Angeles Boy Scouts of America. His other service organizations include: College of the Canyons, Foundation Board Member; Providence Holy Cross Hospital, Board of Governors; Community Advisor for the Los Angeles Police Department, Mission Area; and Habitat for Humanity, Board Member of the Homes for Heroes Program benefiting Veterans.

From Noon to 2 PM on Tuesdays, he hosts the “Total Financial Safer Money Hour” on Radio Station AM 1220 KHTS. The show is rebroadcast on SCV TV, Channel 20. Through the Safer Money Hour, Halaby and his associates offer advice on how save money and spend safely.

Robert Mansour

Attorney Robert Mansour (www.mansourlaw.com) grew up in Southern California, where he attended Loyola High School and Occidental College. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles and has been practicing law since 1993.

He has worked for a small personal injury firm near Pasadena and for the Burbank City Attorney’s office. Mansour has also been a member of a large civil litigation firm in Glendale, California where he was recognized by the firm as Trial Attorney of the Year. He was also a member of the firm’s pro bono Adoption Team which allowed him to serve at the Children’s Courthouse.

Mansour studied mediation at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law, and has served as a volunteer arbitrator and as a mediator with the Los Angeles Superior Court.

He is a member of The Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association (he was president in 2009), and is also a member of the National Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. In 2010, Mansour was recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” by the Santa Clarita Valley Bar Association. His main areas of practice are estate planning and personal injury law.

He has lived with his wife and two children in Valencia, California, since 1997.
