The County of Los Angeles is currently recruiting citizens for the 2016-2017 Civil Grand Jury, the term will begin on Friday, July 1, 2016. Deadline to submit an application for the Civil Grand Jury is Monday, Nov. 23, 2015.
The responsibilities of the Civil Grand Jury include a careful and complete examination of the operations of various government agencies within Los Angeles County to ensure that these agencies are operating efficiently and managing taxpayer monies appropriately. The Civil Grand Jury is further charged with investigating individual complaints from citizens.
To qualify, applicants must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, have been a resident of Los Angeles County for at least one year, of ordinary intelligence and good character, and have strong working knowledge of English.
Membership in the Civil Grand Jury is a full-time commitment, requiring five days a week and approximately 30 to 40 hours per week. Each member is paid $60 for either each day’s attendance at sessions of the full Civil Grand Jury and for mileage traveled in attending meetings.
