West Ranch High School dedicated their new Wall of Honor on Friday, which was produced by four West Ranch High School ASB students.
The wall features a mural and will soon display the names of alumni from the high school who have chosen to serve in the military, go into law enforcement or serve as Fire Fighters/EMTs.
The wall was the brainchild of now senior Rory Mita, who, after finding out one former student died while in combat in Afghanistan and another died during ROTC training, decided that these former students and others should be honored. The names of those two students will be shown in a gold placard, to represent that they gave the ultimate sacrifice.
“I noticed we didn’t have a memorial wall here at West Ranch and I really wanted to honor the people who had graduated West Ranch,” Mita said.
Mita enlisted three other students, who each spoke at the dedication ceremony.
Kailey Clark, Erin Meottel, and Brooke Shriver all helped Mita bring the memorial to fruition.
A completely student run project, the four fundraised for the project, helped find a muralist to paint it, and organized it.

Nice tribute. But give credit where credit is due. Saugus HS already did this last year and for these students to claim they came up with this idea is just wrong.
The Saugus HS one was covered on this site as well as other local news sites.
Again, great tribute though and well deserved.
Hart is also doing one ….. there might be more, as well ….
