hart122812The Hart boys basketball team recorded another blowout win in the Holiday Classic tournament. Behind a 19-point game from Lewis Stallworth, the Indians beat Reseda, 92-70, on the second day of pool play.

Stallworth made four 3-pointers and led four Indians in double figures. Hart made 13 three-pointers in the game.

The Indians stayed undefeated and improved to 13-0. They play South Bakersfield in the third round of pool play tonight.

South Bakersfield lost to Burbank, 50-45, in the second round of pool play. In other pool play games, Glendale beat Channel Islands, 68-51. Grant beat Heritage Christian, 96-66.

The third round of pool play begins today with Reseda vs. Burbank. Heritage Christian plays Channel Islands and Grant takes on Glendale.

The West Ranch boys basketball team beat Moorpark, 69-45, on the second day of the Oaks Christian Tournament. Kevin Harris led West Ranch with 24 points.

The Canyon boys beat Santa Paula, 46-26, in the Ventura Tournament. Ben Taufahema scored 14 points and made three 3-pointers for Canyon.

In the West Coast Holiday Classic, the Valencia girls beat Camarillo, 65-56, in the Invitational Division. Kalia Summerlin scored 23 points to lead the Vikings.

The Canyon girls beat St. Bernard, 67-64, in a Invitational Division game. Jaya Schultz scored 17 points and Alia McCoy hit two free throws in the final seconds of the game to secure the win. McCoy scored 14 points.

The West Ranch girls lost to St. Monica, 59-39, in a Gold Division game.

The Saugus girls lost to Liberty from Bakersfield, 40-33. Faye Osburn, Rachel Eaton and Kayleigh Lau each scored eight points for Saugus.

In high school soccer, the Hart, Canyon and Golden Valley girls teams are in the quarterfinals of the Hart Showcase tournament.

Hart shut out Granada Hills, 4-0, and Paraclete, 3-0, on the first day of the tournament.

The Canyon girls beat Cleveland, 2-1 and tied Agoura, 1-1, in their first two games.

Golden Valley beat Louisville, 5-1, and lost to Knight, 1-0.

Hart plays Golden Valley in the quarterfinals this morning. Canyon plays Alemany in another quarterfinal match.

Paraclete takes on Knight and Quartz Hill plays Agoura in the other quarterfinal games.

On the boys side, Hart won its first two games, 2-1, over Dos Pueblos and 5-0 over Centennial.

Valencia beat Golden Valley, 2-1, and tied Crescenta Valley, 1-1.

Canyon beat Centennial, 3-1, and tied Cleveland, 1-1.

After losing to Valencia, Golden Valley rebounded and beat Arleta, 3-2.

The Saugus girls shut out Royal, 1-0, in the Los Tacos Tournament. Avery Schulhofer scored the lone goal of the game.

The West Ranch girls won two games in the Los Tacos Tournament. The Wildcats shut out Burbank, 1-0, and beat St. Joseph’s, 2-1.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons men beat Palomar College, 65-55, in the Cougar Holiday Classic. Tyler Barber scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds for COC.

In college football, the UCLA Bruins lost to Baylor, 49-26, in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. UCLA was ranked No. 17 in the nation by the Associated Press. The Bruins finish with a three-game losing streak and a 9-5 record.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the visiting Boston Celtics, 106-77, to extend their winning streak to 15 games. The Clippers have the best record in the NBA at 23-6.
