The local Family History Library is holding a free Family History Fair on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on McBean Parkway in Valencia.
Classes offered include indexing, self-publishing, scrapbooking, how to create a family tree, as well as classes for beginners and experts. Click here for a full schedule of classes.
To coincide with the fair, new city manager, Ken Striplin, will be presented a book on his family history, going back a number of generations. The presentation will be made Thursday in his City Hall office. Mayor Bob Kellar, whose history was also researched a few years ago, plans to attend.
“What a wonderful event to learn how to research incredible facts about your family history. This is an exciting opportunity for our community,” Kellar said. “I encourage everyone interested in family research to attend (the fair).”
Pre-registration is available [here], and boxed lunches are available for preorder at $5.50. A laptop computer is recommended but not required. Click [here] to access class worksheet PDFs.
