Local residents will win tons of great prizes on Wednesday at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, as local Denny’s owner Farooq Ghias pulls the winning tickets in a raffle fundraiser benefiting the SCV Senior Center Foundation.
The “Dine & Donate” fundraiser invited customers of all five Denny’s locations in the Santa Clarita Valley to purchase $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win one of many valuable prizes, including a tablet computer, a TV, a Kindle, a mountain bike, free “Grand Slams” at Denny’s for a year, and many more.
“This was such a fun idea for a fundraiser, and Farooq and his staff at the local Denny’s restaurants have been incredible,” said Kathy Crone, executive director of the Senior Center Foundation, the fundraising organization for the nonprofit SCV Senior Center. “They’ve put a ton of energy into selling the tickets and telling people how they can have a great meal, support the Senior Center and win awesome prizes at the same time.”
Tuesday is the last day for diners to purchase raffle tickets at any one of the five local Denny’s locations. Winners do not need to be present at the drawing.
Ghias will do the honors of pulling the winning tickets at noon Wednesday at the Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Santa Clarita.
The prizes will be presented in a separate event 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Valencia Denny’s location, 27451 Wayne Mills Place. At that time, Ghias will present the Senior Center Foundation with a check for the proceeds from the raffle.
“We’re extremely grateful for all of the contributions from Denny’s and their customers,” Crone said. “This fundraiser has been a terrific success — we’ve sold thousands of tickets, and just about everyone can participate because it only costs a dollar.”
The SCV Senior Center Foundation raises funds to help the SCV Senior Center serve local seniors in need.
