RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A five-run third inning carried the Lancaster JetHawks to a 6-3 win over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Saturday night at LoanMart Field.
The run support helped lift Peter Lambert’s record above .500 for the first time this season. The 20-year-old allowed three runs on eight hits over six innings to improve his record to 7-6. The performance marked his 10th quality start this season.
The JetHawks (4-6, 42-38) chased the scoring with an RBI double.
The Quakes (6-4, 42-38) scored two runs in the bottom of the third against Lambert and added another in the fifth on a Yusniel Diaz solo home run.
Marc Magliaro relieved Lambert in the seventh and tossed a perfect game. The right-hander returned for the eighth inning and escaped a bases-loaded jam by inducing an inning-ending double play off the bat of DJ Peters.
Avery Romero delivered an insurance run with a solo home run in the seventh inning. It was his second home run of the road trip and extended his hitting streak to four games.
Yonathan Daza extended his hitting streak to eight games with a 1-for-4 night.
J.D. Hammer struck out two in a perfect ninth inning for his second save as a JetHawk.
Here’s the box score.
The series continued Sunday afternoon at LoanMart Field.
