The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has set a pair of community meetings in the Santa Clarita Valley to get further public feedback about the “I-5 Improvements in North County” project, now in the planning stages and slated to begin in 2019.
Metro’s first meeting is Wednesday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at Old Orchard Elementary School, in the Multipurpose Room, 25141 Avenida Rondel in Valencia 91355.
The second meeting is Thursday, July 27 at the Santa Clarita Valley International School’s Shakespeare Theatre, 28050 Hasley Canyon Road, Suite 135, in Castaic 91384.
Project improvements include the addition of high occupancy vehicle/carpool lanes in the median, truck lanes and auxiliary lanes (additional outside lanes extending between an on-ramp and subsequent off-ramp). These improvements will increase capacity and improve operations.
Since the last community meetings held in January 2017, Metro’s partner Caltrans monitored noise impacts from the I-5 Freeway and analyzed the supplemental data.
The July 26 and July 27 community meetings will include a project update, including sound walls.
Information will be the same at both community meetings.
