A “wanted” poster on the SCV Sheriff’s Station website has led to the arrest of a North Hollywood resident believed by authorities to be the same man seen in video surveillance footage during the robbery of a Stevenson Ranch Subway sandwich shop in September.
Officials said Jay Clayton, 33, was arrested after an anonymous informant identified him and provided deputies with the suspect’s name. Deputies spotted Clayton in the 18300 block of Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon Country and took him into custody Wednesday at 8 p.m.
Clayton is being held at the SCV Station and is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in San Fernando Superior Court.
Deputies put out a call for the public’s help to identify the suspect soon after the Sept. 14 robbery at the restaurant at 25902 The Old Road, which is actually in the Valencia Marketplace but is commonly considered Stevenson Ranch.
The suspect pointed a handgun at the 18- and 31-year-old clerks and demanded money. They didn’t have the combination to the safe, so he took their tip money and fled the scene.
