The SCV Senior Center Foundation has taken a big swing at elevating the profile and strength of the organization’s board of trustees, adding nine new board members who offer a diverse array of talent, expertise and experience.

“We’ve landed some heavy hitters, that’s for sure,” said board President Myles McNamara. “We’re extremely proud that these nine new board members have agreed to join us and make a strong team even stronger.”

The new board members are: Oscar Dominguez, Darlene Gandara, Mark McCorkle, Mike Peluso, Judy Penman, Tina Reed, Greg Spencer, Brenda Tumasone and Vladimir Victorio.

“Each one of our new board members has a great deal of passion for helping our community’s seniors,” McNamara said. “They’ve already demonstrated it through their involvement in the community and support of the Center, so joining our board is the next logical step for each of them.”

The nine new trustees bring the total number of trustees to 26 for the nonprofit Senior Center Foundation. The organization is dedicated to raising funds to support the nonprofit SCV Senior Center and its programs and services for the community’s rapidly growing senior population.

The Foundation’s major fundraisers include the annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner, held each February, and the Summer Showdown Golf Tournament at the TPC Valencia, scheduled June 18 this year.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Crone said the addition of the new board members will significantly broaden the Foundation’s reach in the community.

“All of our new trustees and our existing board members are volunteers, so we’re especially pleased that they have agreed to donate their time and energy to help our organization,” Crone said. “Every one of them brings something special and unique to their role on the board, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them help us make our Foundation stronger and support the thousands of seniors served by the Senior Center.”

More information on the SCV Senior Center Foundation is available at www.scvseniorfoundation.org.
